Cutting corners has a ceiling
Every day I watch performance bond requests cross our desk. Contracts worth three, four hundred thousand dollars. What decides if a client can get that bond issued is never how hard they work. It's whether they have credit, filed their taxes correctly, have the right insurance.
On the other side of that desk, I hear complaints every day, one immigrant about another. Worked two weeks for a fellow countryman, he disappeared, gave a bad check, stopped answering. That's not the exception. That's cutting corners trying to work here the same way it works back home.

This place wasn't built for you to cut corners. It was built for you to play by the book.
Al Capone wasn't arrested for murder, for bootlegging during Prohibition, or for trafficking. He was arrested for filing his taxes wrong. One of the most capable criminals in American history, and the system got him through the simplest door there is.
It's not about being clever enough to fly under the radar. It's about the system not having looked your way yet.
Cutting corners gets you from A to B. To get to C, D, to actually become someone here, you need to issue invoices, file taxes correctly, build credit, carry the right insurance. That's what decides who closes a four-hundred-thousand-dollar contract and who gets left out.
A handful of people scamming their own community stains the name of everyone here working hard. Fix that. Do it right. It's the only way the system starts seeing you, and seeing you the right way.
