Treasury Just Killed the LLC Paperwork Rule - and the Same Week, Services Posted Their Best Growth in 9 Months.

On August 11 (effective August 14), FinCEN issued a final rule permanently ending beneficial ownership reporting under the Corporate Transparency Act for U.S. companies and U.S. persons - and is deleting previously submitted filings from its database. If you formed an LLC and were tracking a BOI deadline, that requirement is gone.

It landed the same week the U.S. services sector - where most immigrant-owned businesses sit - posted its sharpest expansion in 9 months (Services PMI at 54.6, released August 5), with firms hiring at an 8-month high. But growth didn't erase the pressure: the same report flagged input-cost inflation at a 14-month high, driven partly by tariffs. Demand is up. So is what it costs you to meet it.

The Bottom Line

The paperwork that didn't matter just disappeared. Use the afternoon it freed up on the thing that does: pull your last 3 months of invoices and reprice for the costs that actually went up.

Six Years of Clients Asking the Same Question. This Month, He Opened the Answer.

Six years ago, Darley Tomaz built an insurance brokerage for immigrant-owned service businesses - house cleaners, painters, food-truck owners, contractors. Almost every client asked him some version of the same question before hanging up: what's the best way to send money home? This month, PTX Group finally opened that door - a Brazil remittance corridor built on the same trust.

The product carries his background with it. Before emigrating, Darley led fraud-prevention projects inside Brazil's financial system - and that expertise is now built directly into how PTX Exchange operates: an official-channel rule that shuts down phishing before it starts, the live rate shown upfront instead of a hidden markup, and transfers that settle in minutes instead of days.

“What we're building is a structure to reduce friction, protect what people earn, and expand what's possible for a community that has already proven it can work and create value.”

💰 The “invisible fee” isn't the $5 on the screen - it's the exchange rate you're quoted. A one-point markup on $1,000 is $10 that never shows up as a line item, every single transfer.
📱 Official channel only. PTX Exchange will never ask for a password, a verification code, or a document photo by message - and never asks you to send to a different account “just this once.”
Traditional transfers hop between banks, each with its own hours and its own cut. Send it Friday afternoon and it can sleep in the system all weekend with no one able to tell you where it is.

The Bottom Line

Before your next transfer, run the math Darley runs with clients: compare what actually lands in reais or pesos against what you calculated - not the fee shown on the screen, the rate underneath it.

The Dollar Is Softening. If You Send Money Home, That Changes the Math.

The Dollar Index (DXY) slipped to 99.63 on August 18, down 1.31% over the past month, as traders scaled back bets on a Fed rate move this year following weaker retail sales and consumer sentiment data. The Fed's last statement, on July 29, held rates - the next decision isn't until September.

Against specific currencies the picture is more mixed this week: USD/BRL ticked up 0.16% and USD/MXN up 0.03%, even as the broader dollar cools versus a month ago. Translation: the rate you get today is not the rate you'll remember from your last transfer.

When the dollar is this unsettled, check the live rate at the moment you send - a rate you locked in mentally last week is already out of date.
